Søren is victorious again
Søren Kjeldsen recorded his first individual title since 2009 when he birdied the first extra hole at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open Hosted by the Rory Foundation.
Søren led the field going into the final day at Royal County Down, but a five over par round sent Søren into a play-off with Eddie Pepperell and Bernd Wiesberger. However, in the play-off Søren held his nerve and birdied the first extra hole after reaching the green in two shots with a magnificant 3 wood.
This win does not only give Søren full exemption on the European Tour until the end of 2017, but also makes him eligible for the 144th Open Championship at St Andrews in July and the WGC - Bridgestone Invitational in August.
Worth mentioning is that Søren was also defending the Sportyard colors at the Irish Open and Mikko Ilonen's win from last year.
Congratulations Søren, well done and well deserved!
P.S. See the interview with Søren at the European Tour website.
